The Norfolk Brawds - Roller Derby Women
I have been working on a new photography project about Roller Derby women and why they do such an extreme sport. I am interested in the individual and their alter ego, aswell as their fashion and personality.
These roller women have their own personal performance names and wear a mixure of fashion accessories, from hot-pants, fish-net tights, glitter makeup, tattoos and piercings.
This is a challenging sport - not for the faint hearted! Protective padding from top to toe and colourful gum sheilds are worn.
It brings together a strong feminine support system, and a diverse range of females from different backgrounds and cultures with their own unique identities.
I am priveledged to be given permission to work with them closely and to creatively document them.
This is an ongoing project and will be exhibited and published later this year - watch this space!
